D A Y   7:   R E F U G I O   F R E Y

Bariloche is famous for its great hiking and many routes, and the hike up to Refugio Frey should be one of the best.  Its a whole day trip, around 8 hours, and they have a little cabin/refugio on top where you can have a break and buy some hot chocolate or tea.
You can stay in the refugio for the night, and keep hiking the mountains around, which is called the "Refugio Circuit" and takes about 5 days.

The sign for Frey in the start of the hike. Not a chance to miss it.

Cerro Catedral is known as the best ski restort in South America, and looks exactly like the alps.

It took us around 4 hours hiking up, and we hiked through a green landscape, with blue sky, sun, and a great view all the way to Bariloche. We were really excited, putting sunscreen on, wearing our sunglasses, enjoying hiking in this great weather.

Great view all the way to Bariloche

Refugio Frey!

One hour from the top, it all changed. We were in the middle of a freaking snowstorm! But as the Norwegians we are, we´re always prepared, and had plenty of layers of wool in our backpacks. It also gave us a good excuse to have a looong break in the refugio, drinking hot chocolate.

Enjoying the break

Refugio Frey is about 1700m.

Camilla is really happy we´re finally on our way down

How to get there:
Take the bus from Bariloche center to Cerro Catedral, 20pesos roundtrip.
From Cerro Catedral there is a big sign saying "Frey" and an arrow witch direction to start walking. All the way up to the top is marked with red dots or arrows.
