Date: 25 - 29 march

We got jealous of all you guy´s facebook statuses, so we decided to leave the beach for a while and head to the mountains to celebrate easter norwegian style. And norwegian style it was - we were cold, it was raining, then snowing.... and howling winds, and then we had some sun, before it rained again. But all in all it was wonderful!
We stayed in this small cabin (thefuckinghof.com) in the middle of nowhere with beautiful views over the Cordillera Blanca (which is the highest mountain range in the world outside the Himalayas, with 22 summits over 6000m.)

the cabin

We didn't do much. We played cards, read books and charged our travelling batteries.

I bought the Game of Thrones series. Quite heavy to carry around I´ll tell ya.
Cecilie busy planning the next two months
Skip-bo!

We had long, late oatmeal breakfast with apple, passionfruit, banana, cocos, cinnamon, granola.. everything! and coffees under woolen blankets.

How good does this oatmeal look?

We soaked sun by the cabin wall, we hid easter candy to each other in the bushes and we ate Emmylo´s incredible vegetarian dinners (best food so far in South America)!

Chili and squash, with cheese sticks and guacamole

Cecilie found her candy

I found my candy!

Thefuckinghof has no electricity so by night we lit candles.

Fullmoon

The view from the cabin, during fullmoon

And of course we hiked.
To the stunning turquoise Laguna Palcacocha (4566moh) with is surrounded by majestic mountain with summits over 6000m.

And I walked alone to Laguna Churup (4465moh).

Where to stay:
Definitely stay at The Hof (www.thefuckinghof.com). Its this small cosy cabin in the middel of nowhere, with incredible view over the mountains. Different hikes is in walking distance of the cabin, so no need for transportation. A dorm bed costs 25 soles incl breakfast, and you can buy lunch for 10soles and dinner for 15soles as well. (really good lunch and dinner!)

How to get there:
6 hour bus from Lima to Chimboté, and from Chimboté to Huaraz its 4-5hours. (20 soles - 40nok)
From Huaraz you have to take a cab to The Hof, which takes about 45min. (50soles - 100nok).
