D A Y   157 - 159 :   S A L E N T O,   Z O N A   D E   C O F F E E

Date: 02  - 05may

We went to the rather rainy coffee region to drink some coffee, see how they grow and make coffee, hike along the world tallest palmtrees, see a hummingbird and apparently eat all over meals at BRUNCH.

Centro Salento

Coffeetour - Cafe Don Elias
You can walk there from the city centre, and its only 5000pesos (15kr) for a guided tour incl a cup of coffee. Splendid!
We got to see coffee plants, a rather exciting pineapple plant (non of us ever seen that before), drink some coffee, see dried coffee beans, pretend to make coffee and eat chocolate with coffee. All in the rain and all in spanish.

This is how exciting we were to see a pineapple plant! Funky thing!

Cocora valley and the world tallest palmtrees
We spent one day hiking cocora valley and to have a look at the world tallest palmtrees. It took us about 5 hours, and we walked through a lot of mud and rivers, so rent boots (if your ever in the area).

BRUNCH
We ended up spending way much more money and time than planned on "brunch". We had brunch, coffee, the lunch package, the burger and watched movies while eating there incredible peanut butter brownie with vanilla ice cream and butterscotch saus.

Where to stay:
We stayed at Hostel Las Palmas, 25 000 pesos (75kr). Nice place, and the lady even woke up at 06.30 in the morning twice to make us breakfast before the hike and before our bus. Thank you!
