Medellin - Colombias second biggest city, and a worlds cocaine capital who used to be the most dangerous and murderous city on the planet, with several car bombs a day and a murder rate of 381 per 100 000 pr year. Few cities has transformed the way Medellin has: In 2012 Medellin was awarded the Sustainable Transport Award, this year Medellin was chosen as the most innovative city in the world, over New York and Tel aviv, and the city is announced as the preferred corporate business destination in South America.
Medellin - who might be my city-of-choice for exchange, over Buenos Aires.

Where to stay: We stayed at Pit Stop Hostel (25 000 pesos). It was located a bit in the middle of nowhere, but it was a fun hostel, full of people with a pool and bar with a nice vibe, also girls stay for free the fifth night. Casa Kiwi is a hostel which is located much better and are in general quite nice, but you cant book this in advance, you just have to show up.
How to get there:
From Salento/Armenia: 3 hours, 40 000 pesos (125nok)
From Bogota: 9 hours bustrip, 52 000 pesos (170nok)
From Cartagena: 12 hours overnight trip, 100 000 (350nok) - for the same price you can get a flight.
