H O I   A N

Hoi An is located in the middle of Vietnams coast, and its a small, beautiful town witch initally was a fishers village. The town has a great atmosphere with its multitude of colors due to the many lanterns, gorgerous riverfront with many small restaurants and french style houses, and its pedestrian shopping and tailers areas.

Most of the houses are tailors or restaurants

Hoi An has around 450 tailors who will make clothes, shoes and bags for you in a matter of days. A tip we learned was if they can make it in less than 24 hours, the quality is probably not the best, and you should go somewhere els.
But anyways, they can make almost everything, and make it good in around two days, cheaply aswell. You just show them a picture of what you´d like, and they will make it for you. So before you go to Hoi An, bring some photos of what you would like made. Its lots of fun, and most of the outcomes are great.
A good place to go for making leather stuff, like shoes, bags, purses etc. is: "Everybodys fashion, 718 hai ba trung st". We were very saticfied with our products.

We spend the evnings eating, playing cards or biljard, or drinking beers down by the river. Try to avoid the most popular restaurants by walking to the end of Bach Dang streets. The food is as good, and so much cheaper. I belive we paid 5 dollars each for an appetizer, a main course, a dessert and two beers. Aslo alot of the restaurants sell local beer for around 3000 Vietnamese Dong, app 2kr.

Great food! Fish in banana leaf and chicken with lemongrass
Nighttime in Hoi An is beautiful. So many colorful lanterns light up the dark, and
there is water decorations in the river.

Trip to the beach
While waiting for the clothes, shoes, bags, wallets, jackets etc to be finished we spent a day on the beach. We borrowed bikes for free from over hostel, and after a half hour bike ride (4km) we made it to the beach. The beach is huge, and close to empty, not alot of people go to Hoi An for the beaches apparently.

Nice drive to the beach
Even lanterns on the way to the beach

Where to stay:
We LOVED our hotel in Hoi An. The best breakfast in Asia so far (maybe because it was a free buffee and we havent seen that much food in weeks, AND there was a chef who prepared eggs any style and pancakes), huge rooms, nice pool, bathrobes, shower and a bath tub. We spent a lot of time at the hotel  just laying in out fantastic beds enjoying our bathrobes. It was quite cheap aswell.
Check it out - Phuc An Hotel! We paid 15$ for a doubleroom with breakfast and bikes.
