S I E M   R E A P

We went to Siem Reap by nightbus from Phnom Penh, and arrived in Siem Reap at 01.00 in the morning. Because we were to lazy to prebook a hostel, and our ignorance of Chinese New Years, all the hostels were ofcourse full. We spend, together with a very nice tuktuk driver, a couple of hours looking for a free room, and were not in bed before 03.00am.
For some reason we made a deal with the tuk tuk driver to pick us up again at 06.00am, to see the famous Angkor Wat at sunrise. A bit tired we got up, and it was worth it! Customaizable the endless amount of mosquitos and other tourist.
We´ve seen alot of temples in Southeast Asia, but non of them are as memorable as those of Angkor Wat. It dates back to the 12th century, and features the worlds largest religious building, which is still very active today.

Angkor Wat at Sunrise
We were not the only one wanting to see the famous sunrise at Angkor Wat

We spend some hours walking around seeing the rest of the tempels. Some say you should use 3-7 days to see it all, for us 3-4 hours where enough.

We spend the rest of the day walking aorund in the city centre. Its nice, but very touristy with alot of cafees and bars. We ate icecream and wrote postcards to friends and family. And we had over favorit dinner - fried rice, at the local market.

And tried fish massage. Tickly but fun fun fun.

Apparently the place to go for a party is Angkor What? We were to tired to party (since we just haaad to see Angkor Wat at sunrise), so we had a beer and a picture, and then went to bed.

Day two we rentet bikes and biked around Siem Reap, and to the country side. Only 15 min from the streets filled with bars and the restaurants, there were streets filled with small houses, kids playing in the streets, and grown ups working.
