Eat   your   way   through   Hong   Kong

Hong Kong is a fantastic fusion of new smells, delicious food and different cultures... Due to the city´s past as a british colony and long history of being an international city of commerce, the cuisine is influenced by the Cantonese cuisine, the western world, Japan and South east Asia.

Because of the compulsory attendance at school we ate a lot of fried rice in the school cantine or premade wraps from the grocery store. On study nights the closest we came to cooking was boling water for our cup noodles.
When needing a break from school we hid away on wifi cafees in central, we nutured our need for bread and brunch in the beautiful cafees hidden in Sheung Wan, we gathered with friends on the long tables at Mr Wong´s and Tequila Jack, and eating local delicacies in Hung Hom.

1. Brunch Club, 50 peel street, Soho
Go for brunch, avocado sandwiches and smoothies

2. Classified wine & cheese, 108 Hollywood Road, Sheung Wan
Enjoy late afternoon glass of wine, and some cheese after a long day of shopping and sightseeing.

3. Epöch, 12-14 Wing Fung Street, Star Street, Wan Chai
A decent cup of coffee, great wifi and friendly staff that don´t mind you staying all day.

4. Barista jam, 126-128 Jervois street, Sheung Wan
A hidden treasure. We were told they had the best coffee in town, and apparently their signature dishes is Espresso, Flat White and Piccolo Latte.

5. Wontonmeen, 1/F, 135 Lai Chi Kok Road, Prince Edward
I´m actually not sure if this is a café or a livingroom for those rentning a room in the building (www.wontonmeen.com).
It´s very cosy, and they also have a great outdoor terrasse.

6. Tim Ho Wan, Shop 8, 2-20 Kwong Wa Street, Mong Kok
The worlds cheapest michelin-starred restaurant. Go for a fun experience and great food - they sell delisious Dimsum for around 10HKD (7NOK).
Be aware of a queue, sometimes up to 2-3 hours especially around lunch-time, and there is no table reservation.

7. Mr Wong, Hong Lok Cafe, Shop 1 G/F, 20 Kwong Wa Street, Mongkok
Mr Wongs! Eat and drink as much as you like for only 50HKD (36NOK). I´m not sure if I will recommend the food, but its a nice place to gather your friends and have a preparty before heading to the more busy Wan Chai or Lan Kwai Fong.

8. 103 Café, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, 101 Austin Road West, Kowloon
Enjoy high afternoon tea - chocolat version - on 103 floor with a great view over Hong Kong island. The chocolat is fantastic, and you get plenty so there is no way you can eat it all.

9. Taco Tuesday at Tequila Jack´s, 33-35 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
Every tuesday they have tacoes for 10HKD(7NOK) and margaritas for 39HKD (28NOK).
Great place for food and preparty before heading to vodka night at Carnegies *link*.
Come early, the place filles up fast.

10. Knutsford Terrace, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
The street is only for pedestriands, and filled with a mix of european and local, medium priced restaurant and bars.
cosy table for two in Knutsfords terrasse

11. Happy Garden, 786 Shek O Village
The BEST thai food in Hong Kong. Their fried rice dish is the best. They also have a great yellow curry.

12. The right beach restaurant, Tai Long Wan, Sai Kung
There are two restaurants on Tai Long Wan beach, the one to the right (looking with your back is towards the ocean), is the best!

13. Life cafe, 50 C Johnston Road, Wan Chai
Organic, vegetarian - and oh so healty

14. Mammys pancakes, Shop 2A G/F, Whampoa Street, Hung Hom
A small pancake shop hidden in the Hung Hom district. But its extremly popular, and you have to accept a wait from 10-15min for your pancake. But its definitly worth the wait, the Hong Kong style waffal is heaven, and they´re said to have the best eff waffle in town!

15. Si Sun Fast Food, G/F, 1A Whampoa Street, Hung Hom
This is a palm-sized, minimalist (ketchup, mayo and a slice of cheese) hamburger that beates McDonaldes any time. This extremly cheap burger, 9HKD (6NOK), draw customers from all over Hong Kong.

16. Tutti Frutti Frozen Yoghurt, Shop No. 712, Level 7, The Metropolis Mall, 6 Metropolis Drive, Hung Hom
This Frozen Yoghurt stand let you choose as many toppings as you like for your frozen yoghurt, and you pay by the weight.
