P R E I K E S T O L E N

Preikestolen, or in English Pulpit Rock, is a famous tourist attraction in Norway, and attracts around 100 - 150 000 people a year (Kjerag attracts around 40 000). Its one of the most visited natural tourist attractions in Norway. From Stavanger its around 1 hour drive, and you have to take a ferry. I would recommend you to go early in the morning, because of all the tourist visiting the mountain the path can get a bit crowded during the day.

From the parking lot there is a 3,8km hike to Preikestolen, and it takes 1-2 hours each way to walk.

Preikestolen got its name because of its looks. Its a massive cliff, approximately 25 by 25 metres, almost flat, and when you stand on the edge it is basically 600 metres straight down.

After visiting the cliff and sitting on the edge with you feet dingeling, it is also possible to walk a bit more, so you get a view of Preikestolen from above.
