K J E R A G

Kjerag is a famous mountain loacted in the end of Lysefjorden. Its highest point is 1110m above sea level, and its less crowded than Preikestolen. That might be because its harder to reach Kjerag. Its a 2 hour drive (130km) from Stavanger, and there is no public transportation. The drive to Kjerag is very beautiful, you get to see great nature and unfortunaly meet a lot of sheeps. We had to stop several times to get the sheeps of the road, cause they blocked our way.

Even tho Kjerag is less crowded than Preikestolen, its has become a quite popular destinantion the last few years, which has resultet in a marked path all the way from the parking lot to the top. From the parking lot, its not a problem finding the way to Kjerag. In the start of the path there is an informaiton sign where to start, and from there you follow a path marked with red T´s. It is about 6 km to Kjerag, and takes about 2,5 to 3 hours walk each way.

You don´t have to bring alot of water for the trip. There are some rivers floating on the mountain, and the water is perfectly safe to drink and tasts great!

Because of its location in the end of Lysefjorden, and its 1110m above sea level, the view from Kjerag is AMAZING. Its also a very popular destination for Base jumpers, and if you go early in the morning, you get to see Base jumpers dive of the mighty cliffs.

Another popular attraction is Kjeragbolten, which is a 5 m³ stone located between two rocks. Its possible to make your wat out on the rock, and get your picture taken.

After some picture taking, and enjoying a lunch with a view, its a 2-3 hour walk back to the parking lot.
