J Æ R E N

Jæren is the largest flat lowland area in Norway. With its clear skies, wide horizons, endless seas, sandy beaches and round stones its a popular place for a sunday hike - or just a drive through from Stavanger to Egersund. The distance from Bore to Ogna, 41km, is a national tourist road.

Jæren
In march 2012 I was writing my bachelor on a building site on Bryne, and I had a 40min drive through Jæren (from Stavanger to Bryne) every day. One of the days the view was so great, I had to stop several times just to take a picture.

The Beaches
Jæren is also known for its stretches of sandy beaches. And there is about 70 kilometers of beaches on the coast of Rogaland. The beaches are popular for a walk, but also very popular for surfers and kitesurfers due to the great waves and wind conditions. Especially Sola Beach is a popular kitesurfing beach, and Bore or Hellestø beach is popular for beginner surfers.

Sola Beach
The Sunday Times has earlier named Sola beach to on of the world´s best beaches.
