Of course, when in Peru, you have to visit the stunning Machu Picchu!
There is a bunch of different treks to chose between, or you can just take the train. We felt the Inka Trail was a bit overpriced and overcrowded, so we went for one of the alternative routes - the jungle trek. At the time we were so tired of hiking and walking, so the jungle trek was perfect for us.
The jungle trek is a 4 day/3 night trip which included different activities, not only hiking, and we slept in a hostel/hotel, not a tent :). Which was lovely since it we went to Machu Picchu during rain season.
Day 1: Mountain biking
We biked 60km downhill in nice surroundings and… rain.. yeah.
Day 2: Hiking
We hiked for 8hours in total, where half of it was on the original inca trail. A beautiful hike.
Day 3: Zip lining.
My favourit, and parts why we chose the jungle trek. Ziplining! 60km of zipping divided on 6 different lines. The first two you warm up and getting used to the zipping, and after that we could go upside down and superman!

Day 4: Machu Picchu!
We woke up at 04.00am and started the hike up to Machu Picchu. It took us around two hours, and when we arrived it started raining like crazy. It did clear up after two hour ish, and we spent nine hours walking around in this beautiful, ancient city. We took a lot (!) of pictures, enjoyed the sun and hiked Wayna Picchu to get a view of Machu Picchu from above ( Only 400 people is allowed to hike H.P. every day, so book ahead).
