Last stop on our backpacking trip in Asia were Hanoi and Halong Bay. Because of the early departuers to Halong Bay, we had to spend one night in Hanoi first.
Our bus from Hoi An arrived in Hanoi quite early in the morning, and although we only had one day we got to see alot of the city.
We started by walking a city tour recommended in Lonely Planet, which also had some stops and information on the route. This way we got to see and learn alot about the city.
Firsty stop on the tour was the Hoan Kiem lake.

From the lake we walked into the Old Quarter. We got to se alot of typical Vietnames styles - like driving a scooter overfilled with stuff, cute kids playing in the streets and local streetcafees.

In the evning, because of the cold and the fact that we had to be on a bus to Halong Bay at 07.00am, we went to the cinema.
Hanoi Cinematheque is a mecca for art-house film lovers, they also got a great little cafe.
