Perhentien Island |
Perhentien Island is a small island in the north east of Malaysia, close to the border of Thailand. Its unbelivable beautiful, with no roads, no cars, no sales people on the beach. Its just a beach and a jungle with a few hostel and restaurants, and crystal clear water. Its definitly the closest I´ve been to a beach paradise.
Also there is no ATM on the island, so bring the cash you need.
In Lonely planets it says: "Wake up, swim, lie on the beach, nap, snorkle, eat, wander, snooze", and thats what we did for five days.
Swin, Lie on the Beach.
Eat
 |
Yoghurts with fruit every morning. Jum! |
Wander - Take a trip through the jungle, to the other side of the island
Sign up for a snorkling trip, you will guaranted meet a lot of cool people and have a good time. There are so many fish and huuuge turtles!
Enjoy the sunset and a bonfire
Where to stay:
The hostels on Coral Bay are more expensive, and the beach is more quite.
The hostels on Long beach are in general more cheap, but the standards is also lower.
We stayed at Chempaka Chalet, and we were not happy. Its dirty, we lost power all the time, and no locks on the doors. We would not recommend it!
How to get there:
We took a direct overnight bus from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu, and from there a boat out to the island. The trip took about 14-16 hours.
